It is known for the last three months that the Federal Government closed down every primary and secondary school in Nigeria in order to curve the stretch of the Covid-19 epidemic.
This shut down of schools by the Federal Government has negatively affected all government school teachers teaching across the states.
Presently, most teachers who teach in government schools are really having a hard time because they do depend on the monthly salary being given to them by the FG. Some of these teachers have started petty trade in order to support their families.
"I Don't think schools will be reopening soon by the federal government because of the increasing rate in which the deadly virus is spreading in our country"
Looking into these, the teachers of primary and secondary government schools should bear these things in mind before the official pending reopening day.
1. The teachers should not accuse the government of depriving them of their teaching career, they should be aware that the federal governments Are doing everything humanly possible to curtail the spread of coronavirus among its citizens.
The federal government does have the best interest of teachers in mind which is to effectively teach the students but is being put on hold due to this pandemic affecting the world at large.
2. They should ensure that they have summarized all their scheme of works so as to properly teach the students after the school resumes fully. School teachers should always be on alert in case the official school resumption date is pronounced by the government.
3. All School teachers should make sure they contact all their students on the need to provide themselves with face masks and hand sanitizers because they reduce the chance of being infected with the Covid-19 virus. The teachers should mandate every student to have their respective face masks once the school resumes as soon as possible.
Always wash your both hands with medicated soap and running water for a minimum of 25 seconds, maintain strict social distancing and report any students or person who is experiencing any symptoms of the Covid-19 virus to the NCDC.
Your Take: Should the federal government open all schools amid this pandemic or should they still shut down all schools till the coronavirus is eradicated?
